Wet treestand seat

I have rivers edge 15' deluxe action ladder stand. The thing is the seat soaks up alot of water and takes a long time to dry. When I sat down my jeans got soaked. What should I do? Any idea's?

Cover the seat with some sort of waterproof cover when not in use . If you're sitting in it while it's raining your raincoat should keep most of the water off of the seat .

Yep, that’s what I would do....

I don't know how that stand is constructed, but it seems like a very poor design to pad the seat with material that would soak up water. I'd take it off and replace it with a simple thick layer of closed cell foam - the dense stuff that is soft enough to pad, but won't pack completely when you sit on it. For example, I have a couple of old sleeping pads - the thin closed cell type. I'd use one or two layers of that stuff glued or stapled on. The outdoor shops also sell sitting pads made of this stuff.

The closed cell foam will get wet on the surface but won't actually soak up water. If you just wipe it off, you're good to go.

I have one climbing stand that I use that doesn't have a pad on the seat. I just carry a simple piece of the above described foam and just sit on it.

why don't you just take it in and out when your hunting

It is not easy to take off. I could get one of those bleacher seat pads that dont soak up water. Then take that with me up there.

I fold mine up when I'm not there and have a bag over it.

You might be able to spray the material down with a waterproofer every year and that will make it repel the water? You can buy the stuff in a can for like $5-$10. Better than getting a wet butt.

I take mine off. Mine comes off and on just fine. It has two buckes attached to straps which are adjustable, the seat hasa slot in it where it slides over the steel frame of the seat. Unless you have an older one. But mine also has the waterproof cusion cover on it as well.
