RE: GPS (how good are Garmin eTrek series?)
I have owned several gps units over the years, keep upgrading as new units become available. right not i am leaning towards the magellan units, screens seem easier to see and they have the features i want in them. i use them in conjunction with a map. now i have a program that i got from maptech (garmin) that allows me to print out my own topo maps, i can print out grid lines on the maps, change my settings on the gps unit to utm and nad 27 and can locate myself on the map with no problems. think a whole state costs about 100 bucks but they are worth the money. I have the magellan explorist300, magellan sportrac (color) and several other units right now. really looking at the new garmin rhino, but i have an older set of them right now. if you need any help with your unit just give me a yell. there used to be an individual on here that was into this stuff, even published a book, but i can't remember who he is right now.
