new summit stand ?
 

I just got a summit razor x5. I hunted out of it this morning for the first time. when I would stand up it would squeek. I killed a deer but she looked up at me when I stood up. Is there anything I can do to stop the noise?

I'm no expert but, I did just buy a new Summit Viper and on the DVD that came with it theysaid that the powder coating on the teeth will sometimes squeek when it rubs against the tree. They recomended on the video that you take a file and file down the teeth to remove the paint/powder coating to eliminate the noise. Hope this helps.

I have the same stand and I havent had a squeak yet. It is not broken in too well though.

I used the stand 3 or 4 times and the noise stoped.

Then I would guess that the above suggestion was correct. It was the pain on the teeth. Mine did this as well the first few times I used it. That was two years ago and I haven't heard it since.

Same here... The powder coating on the teeth can make it squeak when it is brand new out of the box. I used mine over a dozen times and didn't hear it squeak. (I went a step further and used a small dremel with a sandpaper bit and easily took off the powder coating on the teeth.

Good info,I just bought a viper x5, and after watching the dvd I contacted summit and am switching my top for a "180 " top.Ilike the option on being able to face the tree. I will check out the squeak factor on some trees around my house.
