When I was in safari in Cameroon they had these on license. We cut tracks a couple of times but never saw one. They are considered quite a prize and there are only a few places over there where you can hunt them with any real degree of success. Most are taken as targets of opportunity.
At to this rather foolish post:
Let me assure you that every bit of meat taken on a legal and licensed safari is utilized. They waste nothing. If you see a picture of a carcass rotting in the sun in Africa you can bet it was either poached or died of natural causes. Safaris use the meat and what they can't use is given to the local tribes. You should see how quickly the people over there can break down an elephant into easily carried pieces.
