Florida Hog Down!!!!!

1 Attachment(s)
Just made my annual trip down to Florida and took out this nice hog. He was about 200 pounds and has great teeth. I have a skull mount of my first one and this one is getting a shoulder mount.

congrats on a nice hog!
any details on where you hunted,
the cost, licences, time frame,difficulty,
guides, what you used as a weapon and the range,
circumstances ETC. would be rather interesting.
most of the local guys I hunt with use magnum revolvers or archery

Nice cutters on that big boy.

This location is between Felda and Imokelee on Florida Route 29. I was going to use my crossbow, but in my stand I noticed the back magnifying lens on the scope was missing. When the guide came back, lucky for me he brought his .280 with him. He moved me to a different stand and a short while later a group of hogs came through some brush and the guide picked out the best one and said let him have it. He was on the move so for never hunting with a rifle I think I did pretty good. Perfect shot, right behind the shoulder. Dropped him in under 25 yards. Usually the guides drop you at a stand if that's your preference then they come back. If that doesn't work they will move you around some. If that doesn't work you will go on the move for a spot and stalk. They also have buggies you can ride on and shoot off of them. This was my 2nd hunt and both ended in success. First one was with my crossbow last year and this one was the rifle. I will be coming back for my 3rd hunt next year.

Ive shot a good many hogs in that basic area,

Was this considered a "meat" hog or "trophy" hog?

Nice one. Sounds like a fun hunt.

I would think at 200 lbs and with cutters like that it was a considered a trophy hog. Biggest one I ever took was 168 lbs.

Yes, it was considered a trophy hog. The meat hogs are 250 and trophy hogs are 400. Hunts are relatively cheap but fun and exciting. Already booked for next year. May add a gator hunt on that too.
