Got this hog last night. Had 2 lined up. He dropped the other did not and I couldn't find any blood trail from the other. It looked like it was hit by the way it ran off. I recorded the hunt but when I went to shoot I forgot to move the camera so I couldn't see what happened.

Congrats on the big porker.

What is an easy way to skin out big boars like this? The shield on it was pretty difficult and I need a different approach.

That's good hog there. I keep my sharpener handy and sharpener as I skin. The shield will dull a knife quick.

i skin a lot of wild hogs. Never had a problem with the "shield". My method:
1. Do not field dress the hog prior to skinning. 2. Hang the hog head down from a gambrel. 3. Cut the head and forelegs off. 4. Skin out the rear legs and butt. 5. Slit the skin in front and down the back. 6. Pull the skin off. The "shield" comes off with the skin. 7. Field dress the hog. A pair of skinning pliers makes it easy: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...-tool?a=686993 |
