What is the most exotic or rare thing you've ever ate
Like, I've seen pig snouts and feet, hog jowls, chow chow, chopped liver and all sorts of other things in stores and wondered who eats that stuff!
|
i love trying new foods. A lot of that stuff you get if you ever eat at a soul food restaurant, or low country food from savannah or charleston (yummy). Probably the most off the wall thing ive ever had in a restaurant was either bone marrow or fried gator tail
|
not that far out there
have had gator, calf hearts, tripe, since we're at it, since some parts are eaten from other animals, like tripe (cows stomach) and beef hearts, anyone eat the same from Deer? can deer stomach be used for tripe like a cows stomach? |
Oh, lemme see . . .
Haggis (in Scotland) Eel Soup (Malaysia) They just skinned and gutted the eel, then chopped it into ~1" sections and threw it into the soup. You took a piece, sucked the meat off and discarded the bones. Alligator (in east Texas) Fried Rattlesnake (Arizona) Hog's Head Cheese (never doing that again) |
I can't post it on this site.

I have had eel, octopus, gator, and meal worms. In Sweden I had an interesting mix of fish eggs and mayonnaise on a potato pancake--surprisingly good. Has anyone had paddlefish? (eggs or meat) I hear meat is akin to porkchops and the eggs are sold as caviar. There's a snagging season around here and it could be a good opportunity to fill the freezer.

I have eaten, Monkey, Iguana, Dog, Gator, Frog Legs, Possum, Octopus, Cuttle Fish, Conch, Sea Urchine, and many other things!

My grandmother use to fix squirrel brains and tongue when I was a kid. Don't know if I would eat them now.
|
Chicken feet is probably the strangest. But like the others, squid, octupus, pigs feet, black squid ink rice, etc.
|
Gulika Moyica. Finnish fish head soup. VERY good. I haven't had it since my great grama passed though.

I’ve always pretty much always stuck with the basics like Goat blood, Tripe, Brains, intestines, heart, liver, kidneys, eye balls, armadillo, dog, water buffalo, just about everything that comes out of the ocean, and I’m sure a few other things in Viet Nam I wasn’t sure what it was.
Right this minute, I’m craving some menudo and cow cheek tacos for breakfast.. yum.. |

One of the weird things I have eaten that hasn't been mentioned yet is kudamundi (Coatimundi) not sure wich is correct spelling. lol I had it bbq kabobs in Panama. It was surprisingly good. |
My dad and I always ate the muskrats that we trapped. They're about like a squirrel, but a bit stronger tasting. Fried up with gravy and butter beans. YUM.
