Trapping and Relocating Hogs...

Hey guys n gals, I was wondering what is the best way to establish a Hog population on my property. There are NO HOGS, Haven't seen any signs of rooting, nothing on my trail cams accept Deer. What is the best way to trap some hogs and relocate them.

How to make a trap, etc.
Please Help folks.
Thanks in advance.

Be very thankful that hogs have not yet found your place. Hogs are very destructive. We deliberately attracted wild hogs to a place where we hunt: That was a very big mistake. Wherever hogs are plentiful the deer suffer.

BTW: The wildlife people take a very dim view of relocating wild hogs. They usually call it something like "releasing hogs into the wild": A big fine is usually associated with that.

don't do it, they will ruin property and will run deer off of food sources.

get ya a 55 gallon drum, fill with corn, pour beer on it, have a party, dump the emptys out on the corn..what ever, stir it, leave it covered in the sun with the lid on it. more beer...when ya open it and gag, its ready, add razberry coolaid, just what ya can spare, giver a good stir...dump the whole thing out, they WILL find it.

i've watched wild hogs run deer away from water, out of the game plots, away from the feeders and out of the wheatfields.

Got this from another site. Watch a hateful little boar run several deer away from the feeder. Then revenge comes.

We start trapping the first week in December, but we sell all we get for $3 a pound and $5 per pound butchered and dressed.....Here in West Central Fl and South Fl. many wild hogs are sold for Christmas Eve dinner....

Tell me how to trap them, Get them in the pin etc.

halfbakedi420 01-28-2011 06:19 AM

just depends....rebel hog has a floor on his trap, and the hogs where we are will put just 1 foot in the trap, and backout if there is a floor, i gotta cool sequence of pics showin so. after we cut the floor out, baited it, left it tied open, and went back 2 weeks later, re-bait it, and set it, and the next mornin we had hogs.

best trap is to build a circle trap with cattle panels and t-post, there is a post on these forums to give details on how to build, leave gate open and start baiting trap and around trap until the hogs start going nto the trap , once they have started using the trap set your door. there are also commercial traps for sale , check out Texas Hog Hunter.com, baydog.com,
