My Son's first Hog

1 Attachment(s)
My son has never really had a desire to hunt until this year. He and I were in a deer blind actually deer hunting when this guy walks out. My son said he wanted to take him so I said ok. He laid the smackdown with my 7-08 and dropped him in his tracks. The boar hog weighed 307 lbs. busting the coveted 300 lb. mark for our location. We got an awsome Euro mount which now sets in our man cave.

We just cut the head off and left the rest for the coyotes. We usually just eat the ones ranging from 75 to 150 lbs.

Congrats to your son on the big boar.

This hog looks like it weighed more than 307. We had a hog about this size that topped out our scales at 350. This was after it was field dressed. We used a a bucket on our tractor to hold up to skin it.

Congrats to you and your son!!!!!!!! I agree with you on the eating of the younger ones for they w/o question eat better. We usually though take the older/bigger ones like this and donate it to the local food pantry and they have sausage made out of it or use it to make a mix with.
