hog hunting help?
hello im trying to do some hog hunting over the spring break down in east texas (wooded area) around huntsville any ways my problem is that the hogs on my place come out at night and im trying to get them to come around in the morning or evening. i set up my feeder to drop some corn around 7:00 am and 8:00 am is there anything else i can do to boost my chanses of them coming around in the morning? i also made some rubing posts (carped doused in diesel nailed to trees).

You could try putting corn output to a minimum hopefully creating some competition for the hogs to get their first.

Hogs are like deer they will get used to a schedule. If there's a food source, they will be there.. I'd put the timers on first light on A.M. and about two hours before sunset for the P.M.

I hunt about 10 miles southeast of Buffalo - not too far from you. If you have limited time, hunt the hogs at night. Use a spotlight and be ready to shoot. Hogs aren't like deer, they won't stand there and look at the light. As soon as they see the light, they're off and running. During the spring we mostly night hunt hogs. Just give the game warden a ring so he'll know what's going on if anyone complains about night shooting.
