Hog #5 Flashlight and .45
Just before dark hog #5 came out and I put a 30/06 165 gr Nosler Ballistic tip into his right shoulder and it came out mid way on the left side at 25 yds. Would you believe the darn thing didn't go down. It did a 180 and hauled butt like it had never been hit. Found blood at the initial spot then nothing. So there I am in the brush, very thick brush at night .45 in one hand flashlight in the other. Couldn't find it, so the next morning my son came with me and we located in about 40 yds from where it had been shot. This entire area is a maze of heavy brush and hog trails. But junior is good at finding sign and sure enough he did. I am amazed that this hog could take that type of hit in the heart lung area and act like nothing happened.

Good job of finding the beast. The first one I ever killed took a shot that went through both shoulders, breaking one. The shot knocked it down, but it got up and tried to get away on three legs. I've had two that were shot through the heart run off. One made it over 200 yards before it dropped. The other zig-zagged 40-50 yards through thick brush. Luckily both left a good blood trail or I wouldn't have found either one.
Them things are TOUGH, . . . but tasty. Mmmm, pass the gravy please.
