New scope, same 'ol Hornet, big hog= DRT

Went to the ranch last night to check on things and do a night hog hunt and to try out my new scope. Its a Mueller 4x16x50 sport dot. Pretty awsome for night hunting, the red dot has 11 brightness settings and the Mueller is very clear at night.
Anyway I got busted twice before 11 pm, had some hogs in my red dot and was picking my shot and got winded, went to bed and woke up at 2.30 am, Stalked to the feeders and found this guy under one at 3.30 am, got to about 50-60 yds sat down using the bipod and let one fly, DRT.
Oh and this is my first kill using handloads. I use to shoot 45 gr hollow points because thats all I could find. My handloads are (22 hornet) 45 gr Hornady SPflat base with 13 gr of lil gun, book says around 2800 fps.
When I cleaned the hog and was cutting off the head all I had to do was get through the skin and meat and the head fell off. The bullet entered the front forhead and went on to severe the spine. Pretty impressed.
Heres some pics, we didnt weight this one but my guess would be 225lbs maybe bigger.

Congratulations! That's a dang big hog.

So, when you're hunting at night do you use lights? If so, what kind -- motion sensor, big flashlight, just moonlight, other?

My attempts at night hunting by moonlight have been pretty frustrating. Can't see too far, can't see anything at all in shadows.

at this feeder I use solar spot lights from home depot, you can see them on the post in the pic, the other feeders have actuall hog lights, basically the same thing, led's on a box with battery and charger. They are all not super bright but you can see them through bino's from quite a ways out. I like to get within 60 yds for the shot, only because I am using a small caliber and have to hit them in the noggin. If I was using a big caliber I could shoulder shoot them from much further. The biggest problem is seeing your crosshairs on a black hog, that why I got the red dot scope. So much easier.
