new to hog hunting
 
last deer season i killed my first hog 75-100 pounds.shot it with my marlin 30/30.150 grain power point.is this gun enough to 100 yards? i am using open sights.

more than enough gun to kill a hog. I would recommend getting a scope though. Not that its hard to hit a hog accurately at 100 yards, but a wounded hog is nothing i would want to mess with, and a scope lessens the chance of making a bad shot.

Also the Hornady Leverrevolution ammo for the 30-30 is a very fine round especially in the SST version. Or use your namesake and plant it inbetween the eye and ear. That is what I am using tomorrow.

The 30-30 is as good a hogcartridge as there is. The velocity is perfect for penetration as faster rounds can deflect or come apart on big hogs and angled shots at close range. Second the scope especially if you'll be hunting in late evening hours. Precise bullet placement will bring much more pork home and save a lot of time wandering around in the dark trying to find wounded pigs.
