If I would everget a chance, that is #1 on my list of African plains game to hunt. They make a really striking mount with the contrasting black and white face. Congrats on a nice kill. What part of New Mexico did you kill him?

I killed him on the US Military's White Sands Missile Range. Geographically it's in the southern middle of the state.

They are beautiful. When I had first seen a mount it was at a G&F office in New Mexico. It was stunning and seeing one in person was cool, especially since I could study it on the wall from different angles. Their lines and markings are striking and hard to explain in words.

Very cool! What's the tag cost, if you get drawn? Can someone DIY the hunt?

Tag cost is steep - $1600 and change, plus fees to the base.

DIY ? - Absolutely, I did it with a friend. Basically drive the base roads and glass. The easy part is seeing them, stalking them is another thing altogether.

Apply online at New Mex Game and Fish.
