Hog hunting HELP

Hi,
Im a college student from PA, my roommate and I are literally dying to head south for a week to try some hog hunting (archery mainly). Being college students, money is kind of an issue, so we would like to avoid any pay-to-hunt operations. We would greatly appreciate it if someone could point us in the right direction or recommend someone who would welcome us to get some pork. The only week we could do it is during our spring break(March 14-22), unfortunately it is then a closed season for public lands, narrowing down our only option- to find somebody with private land that would let us hunt for a few days.
Thank you,
-Dan

Exaclty how far south are you willing to go?? You can hunt public land in Mobile,AL and I promise you that you'll leave with alot of pork. Hogs are in season all year here and the mobile woods and the mobile delta are full of hogs. if you dont leave with hogs here then you need learn to shoot better cuz its because you missed, not that you didnt see any.

jeremyjms06, can you PM me more info on the hog hunting around Mobile? I'd like some pointers and tips. Sounds like a good place to hog hunt.

Thanks

Right now we have narrowed our options down to either savannah nwr hog hunt, or ft stewart. Can anyone recommend either of these or any other place?

If you choose to go to Savannah NWR, I'll see you there ! I do that hunt every year. Usually turns into a great party hunt with several hunting buddies and some friends from the Georgia side of the refuge. We do some stand hunting, lots of stalking, and a fewman drives. Bring ajon boat. It's almost impossible to get around to the little islands in the swamp without one. The whole area floods with the tides. So where you start hunting on dry ground, may be underwater a few hours later. Stands are are difficult as all the trees are Cypress and that makes for a hard climb (bases of trees are 4 timeswider than the middle). Bring a shotgun with a rifled barrel and slugs if you plan to stalk. Bow hunting from ground level is gonna be dang hard with all the thick cover. PM me if you need more info. We usually camp all week at nearby Hardeeville. (Stoneycrest Plantation and Campground).

And if you still want to bowhunt in SC during the spring, I could let you hunt the beaver ponds on my club in Iva, SC. Plenty of hogs moving in the daytime still that time of year. Just can't be during our turkey season (April 1 - May 1).
