Anyone Else Seen Hogs Do This?

RE: Anyone Else Seen Hogs Do This?
kind of off topic, but while we're talking about animals being smart in the way they get their food, I've seen deer eat watermelons by smashing a hole in it with their hooves, and lick the "mush." As for hogs, I've never seen one, but I'd love to bust one down.

Here are some of the interesting things I have watched pigs do for food.
1. Juice an orange.
2. Clean only the very tops off of millet plants.
3. Split watermelons down the middle with their hooves and eat only the tender sweet center without the seeds then go to the next.
4. Roll on corn stalks to bring them down so they can get at the ears.
5. Eat only the bright red strawberrys and leave the ones that were not quite ripe enough.
I am sure there are many more things they do and I wopuld not be suprised by any of it. When it comes to getting food hogs are excellent at it.

He came in eating persimmons.I was waaay too far to drag him so I didn't shoot him.He ate all the persimmons under the tree then went up to it and started pushing on it with his shoulders!!He made some more persimmons drop, and then repeated until no more persimmons fell. That tree was about as big around as your leg.I wonder how he came upon figuring out how to do that?

Quite often I have been sitting in a stand at a water hole and heard hogs coming in.Suddenly some serioussquealingwould takeplace and here would come a juvenile, usually a boar, acting as point pig.Saw it happen once:A big sow roughly pushed a 75 pound pig up front. When he did not want to stay there, she nailed him with her cutters and pushed him up front again. Here they came towater with the pig leading the pack.
