Who uses a 45-70 ???
I just had a marilin 45-70 give to me, I was thinking about carrying it hog hunting next time I go. Really I was just curious how many of yall hunt with one. I shot a doe with it this past year, there is no mistaking its knock down power within 65 yds.

I have a .450 I use. It is bigger than you need but I like it. I haven't seen anything shot with it yet run off. The only problem is the recoil is worse than on our .375 H&H Magnum.

Oh yeah!Reloader7 or IMR 4198 with a Barnes original 300 grainer, or a Hornady 350grain will do the job. BTW Iavoid the hollow points due to a few bad experiances.[:'(] The hps are made for trapdood velocities.Velocities around or above 2000fps causeover expansion and fragmentation resulting in poor penetration.

Im gettin ready to buy the H&R 45-70 buffalo classic, next month and i hope to use it on a hog hunt in the fall. Ive had a deep love for the sharps 45-70 and alike long range buffalo rifles, sence i was a young boy. Ive heard they shoot awesome so im very excited bout gettin the new gun as well as goin on a hog hunt.
