What would you do?

*Very Long
Guys I have a dillema. I have a 10 acre swamp in which the hogs and some deer that dont get pushed out by the hogs stay, including hundreds of ducks. Anyways, Our neighbors have a big, probly 200acre 2 sides of the swamp fully planted with luscious st. Augustin On the long end on our side, in a cut area right at the edge we have a corn feeder with a barbwire fence running the long side fencing in the swamp and the feeder is fenced in with the swamp We have always had a problem with stuff getten stolen. My uncle, who has the feeder has had 2 solar panels and one entire feeder stolen, ive had a game camera stolen too. Now 2 weeks ago there were dog and foot pirnts all around the feeder and down the entir long fence side on our place. Some even BAREFEET! Now in there field there is a power line in the middle runnin to a small house they have. Nobody is supposed to be huntin there according to the owner but there are 3 trpas one by each criso post. NOW,
last weekend 2 of the 3 traps had a hog in them. First i seen them in there friday evening, and they were there till sunday at least. Now i almost shot them especially on sunday since they are to sorry to check the traps. Would you have shot them, not only to put them out of their misery for sittin in 3 days of hot but just to spite them?

RE: What would you do?

I would of opened the trap and turned them loose. If nobody is supposed to be hunting there I would inform the owner he might not be aware of the traps. Also near your feeder or stand I would place a game cam that is hidden and if anything is stolen hopefully you will have their pics so you can prosecute. We had a problem with poaching on a place we had in East Texas several years ago. We finally caught who was doing it and it was the local judges son. His dad was pissed when we pressed charges and we made sure it was filed in another county. His dad tried to get him off but the game warden made sure he was prosecuted.

I would contact Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Well we started to release them but my luck when i let them loose they would tera me up. But i was a little nervous the traps are about 200 yards from our fence. Well Rev, he wont answer mine, my dads or my uncles phone calls. But everyone hes close to and sees him alot talk to him all the time. We called a game warden several times but they cant do anything unless they are caught on the place. The hidden camera thing, i thought about it.
Almost forgot about another incident. About 4 or 5 years ago, Im 17, me and my friend made a duck blind in a dried up spot in between two parts of a creek that runs through the same place. The next morning we decided not to hunt it and my dad went back there. When he pulled, up there van was parked in the shed up the hill and 3 people were in it with coffee! My dad let them go though. They said Matt(the neighor) said they were allowed to hunt there. I wasnt there and heard about it afterwards.
Man it sucks not feelin safe about the game ur huntin. All the deer and hogs routinely feed in their fields which worrys me. Funny thing is they come on our place but the animals run to theirs. Doofuses

I know how to build "toe poppers" just let your dad know where you put them and next time there will only be 1 bare foot track! Try posting the perimeter with signs stating there hiden cameras and you will press charges if caught! Trespassing with deadly weapon is a class A misdeameanor punishable by 4 grand and up to 1 year in jail! Don't ask me how I know! It is hard to press charges as a leasee but land owner can do it real easy with only photo proof! Catch the hillbillies hiding and fire for effect in safe direction also lets them know they're unwelcome!:D

RE: What would you do?

Well once again 2 traps were full 2 in each of the 2. I looked all along the fence adjacent to the field with the traps and its unbelieveable the tracks goin in that field and to them traps The wallows in that field, no lie, are at least 2 1/2 feet deep and about the size of a F150 around. But me and my uncle are gonna get here soon I looked at the traps up close and the wire isnt but about thesize of the widest part of a 25-06 bullet around. One night soon, gonna do a little clip clip with some good 'ole bolt cutters...

Icetrey,
If the traps are not on your property, be very cautious how you "release" the hogs. I have never worried too much about them turning back on me, a piece of plywood a couple of feet square is more than enough protection if you need it. No animal should be made to suffer no matter what. I don't know what the rules are elsewhere but in my neck of the woods traps are to be inspected within 24 hrs of the previous inspection. Three days is cruel and inhumane, and I personaly would destroy the traps, AND leave my business card on the pile.

Well later that night, sundy my dad went back and relesed the 4 pigs once he opened it they still were in the corner ready to fight, then when they realized they were free they headed back to our swamp. But he left the doors shut and knowing they dont go check them hardly, there shouldnt be anymore trapped piggies for a while:)

RE: What would you do?

I would have to say all night black ops and catch them, then hang them up from the barn rafters by there toes till the cops get there.
