Winter Hunting?

How is hog hunting in the winter? Are they more active during the day?

Yes, they are more active at dawn and dusk right now. Alot of the hogs are being taken by deer hunters hunting the creek bottoms on my club. My brother took a 175 lb'er yesterday out of my box stand looking over a beaver pond at last light. Pretty much just hunt where you see hog sign and you might catch a group moving through right now.

I prefer winter hog hunting. They are more active, ya don't sweat nearly as much, mosquitos aren't so pesky, ya don't have to worry about the meat spoiling as quickly as in summer, the list goes on.

Sounds good so far. I was thinking that a little snow would help too. I imagine since they sun burn in the summer then they would be looking for the suns heat in the winter. Just speculation on my part though.

The best. Food is scarce, the weather is right for them to move. If you find a food source, you will see them. I see more of the big hogs during the cold months.

i hunt them year around. Theymove around more insearch of food in the winter. However, there is not the activity around isolated water holes that i see in hot weather. In hot weather all i have to do is to watch a water hole for a few hours and aboar is guaranteed to come in.
