Here is some of the damage that feral hogs can do. I put my quiver in the rooted up area for perspective. There is about 7-8 acres of a 80 acre pasture that is ripped up like this. That is why every hunt I'm on is a managment hunt.

Nice. So you had the same luck I did with the deer? I saw only one doe, and could never get in bow range. arrrggggg. I didnt even see hogs. That was a surprise. I did see one of the biggest bobcats ive ever seen, but he would never get in range. I guess there is next week.

I did take the recurve Saturday AM. Wind wasn't right for my honey hole stand Sat. PM so I took the Diamond. The honey hole stand, where I've killed 3 deer in the last 2 years requires close in shots. Under 20 yds. All of my other stands could have a shot out to 35-40.

Good job. A nice piggie, a dead one..! Did it go very far after the shot? I shoot alot of them with the bow but probably only recover half of them due to the thick brush where I hunt.

It went about 75yds. I have to do a lot of brush crawling to recover hogs. Sometimes, well, it just doesn't happen. I do recover most and it is hard work!

I read in another post about a guy that is training his dog to follow a blood trail. You've got a few candidates around the house for that job, another project for you. lol

Along with the other hundred things you've got going on with a new house. :D

Actually I already am working with one of them. I'm using scraps of deer hide. I haven't thought about getting them to trail hogs for me. Thats an idea worth looking into!

Wait till you tag that first one. It is addictive. I had my recurve out Sat and Sun morning in Bowie but it was too dang hot. I saw no deer, but I did put an arrow in a small hog. Had to hunt a water hole to gethim. I gave that hog to my buddy. They were on the other side of the land hunting with rifles. I kinda had to rub it in. :D
