Javalina hunt
I live on Cannon Air Force Base in east central NM (Clovis), and I'm trying to find a place to bow hunt javalina in TX cheap without having to drive for days. I would prefer private land, but I'm very open to a DIY public land hunt. I don't need any lodging or any special treatment, just some land to access; I'll take care of the rest. Does anyone out there know somone, or somewhere I can make this happen?

RE: Javalina hunt
I would give Brett Bolting a call (361-727-2685), he lives in Rockport and was running a really good fair chase outfit for javies and hogs. I havent hunted with him in a couple of years but quite sure he still guides on private ranches in south Texas. If not he probably could steer you in another direction.

Great Bowhunting & great guy. Inexpensive & excellent hunting. I should have filled my Javi tags & arrowed a decent hog too. March 2006. |

RE: Javalina hunt
Brazos Archery Outfitters have a javelina lease out your way. Last year they were featured on Tred Barta's show. I met them at Tx Trophy Hunters Fort Worth last year. They're affiliated with Lone Star Bow Hunter Assn. Seemed to be a good group of guys and they run archery only hog hunts near Wichita Falls. I don't know which county they are in for their javelina hunts but I seem to recall it being near Alpine.

RE: Javalina hunt
Callaghan ranch near Laredo is like 90,000 acres and does Javelina hunts every year.
I wouldn't worry about high fences if you are worried about a "fair chase" Javelina hunt either. I've never seen a HF stop one from getting under it. |
