Backup weapon when Hog hunting?
I hunt hogs primarily with my bow and always have my pistol with me just in case I walk up on a sow that doesn't want me around. Does anyone else carrya back up weaponwhile hog hunting?

Hey Ryan
I just bought a Springfield Armory XD 40. Can we carry backups during deer archery season. last year I hunted the Quarts Mtn. area and there are some big ole cats down there. Not that I would ever know I was being hunted till it was too late, but I would feel better with my pistol.

I'm new to hog hunting but have a hunt scheduled soon at what appears to be a good location in my area.....maybe I'll have a pic to post and some wild story to go with it. I'll be hunting with my trusty old Switchback XT but I'll have my newly acquired play purdy hanging on my side. It's a Ruger Blackhawk .357 magnum and I've been shooting Winchester 110 grain JHP's. I've noticed others are shooting a heavier grain bullet in their handguns....particularly this caliber. I'm open for suggestions......
The belt and holster I cobbled up recently....just kinda showing off on that.Ray
