Southeast Ga. hog hunting for noobs

I am new to large game hunting and I have the fever pretty bad. I have 3 WMAs near my house and they all have signs of wild hog. I have found huge rooting areas, terds, and even a big clump of hair on a sticker bush.I know they are there. I just need to meet up with them . Its on a wma so I can't pour sour corn all over the place. Any tips on calls, attactants, scents, Or strategies would be great.

Well Slow, I'm assuming that you are not trying to shoot them on a WMA out of season?

Here in FL many WMA's have sections for running dogs on WMA's. I have friends that are in a Private Club in Darian, GA and many friends in GA that run dogs.

Unless you're a good hog caller, I would not reccomand using a hog call. You might scare more off then calling them in. If you don't planon training hog dogs, you're going to have to learn how to track them and stay on it untill you get the hang of it!

They are legal til feb. 28 with small arms and black powder. I see trails all over the place .Are you sayin I need to follow the trails and try and track em down? What time of day is all this rooting going on that I see? Thanks for replying

Yep! Try to find their wallowing holes or creeks and streams where they drink.

What time of day is all this rooting going on that I see?
First light in the morning and at dusk.

Most of that rooting is going on at night. We see most of our hogs just before dark. I think Boar Hunter Magazine there in Georgia sells a sow in estrus scent. That's about the only scent that might draw them besides food. Grape or berry koolaid powder sprinkled around might work to draw them to a specific area. Good Luck!
