hog scent
does a domestic pig have the same scent as a wild pig?
got some piglets to train my dog but dont now if the scent is the same |
RE: hog scent
They smell the same to me, but, if you keep your piglets on concrete and wash them down good with one of the many fragranced shampoos, they will smell a lot better. :D

RE: hog scent
Funny! Not!
For real, then i wont have to go buy wild pigs if the scent is the same |
RE: hog scent
OK, all kidding aside, I don't really know. But, since wild hogs are descendants of once domesticated hogs that were once wild hogs, logic would seem to imply the scents are going to be substantially similar. I don't hunt with hog dogs and know very little about it, so someone else will have to give you a more definitive answer. However, they do actually smell the same to me.

RE: hog scent
Pig is a pig. A dog's nose is so good that if there is a slight difference between your training pigs and the wild ones you'll be hunting, your dogs won't care. They'll know what they're after.
