I carry a pistol every now and then. Not so much for protections, but more so I can take a shot in a situation that would not allow me to draw on a hog.

I always carry my 45ACP now. Had a run in 5 years ago with a group in the dark. I was walking out with muzzel loader in hand and walked right into the middle of a group of hogs. Took a knee and tried to become one of them. They started growling and snapping jaws, so I used my grunt call to try to blend in. It worked they calmed down and moved away, I ran home and changed my shorts. Since then I always carry. Oklahoma law allows you to carry in the field if you have a Concealed Carry Permit.

Payed off last weekend. My buddy wounded a hog that curled up under some brush. Waiting for a charge didn't seem too much fun and I wasn't going to leave him there for someone else to walk up on. There I went 45 in hand crawling on my belly. Lets just say at 3 feet away3 230gr slugs beat 2in tusks.

These animalscan bedangerous. Not because they intend to be, but because they are just protecting their own. Treat them like an other dangerous animal.
