Newbie, Got Pork?
Hi Gang,
I have been lurking forsometime and finally joined up. We have had hogs south of our place for years,, well they finally made it to our land. Many of our food plots have been destroyed. I caught these two on camera a few days ago. Hopefully we will be harvesting some soon!! Great forum... |

RE: Newbie, Got Pork?
Don't worry I will be working on the "after" pics.. I was pretty upset about the damage they have caused thus far [:@],, However the upside is more game to hunt year round...
Currently trying to educate myself on hunting techniques by reading some of the historical post here,, Good stuff...:) |
RE: Newbie, Got Pork?
Well your photo shows to me , more than most the mags and books have,
1) Where the pigs are:) 2) When the pigs are there;) 3) Meat in the freezer:D I guess if you wanted more of a hunting expeirience though hunt them in the day. Ive bein trying in the evening and they are pretty ellusive and smart. Dogs got them all shell shocked[:@] Great photo . |
RE: Newbie, Got Pork?
The best thing I have found to consistently draw them in is to spreaddrink mix (like Kool Aid)(in the large containers for $2) on the ground and cover with corn. I've done that in locations before and had hogs on the spot within 24 hours such that I disturbed them re-checking the corn.
The smell of the sugar and flavoring also seems to cover up some of my scent. If you're not able to check the spots as frequently then look at some of the feeder ideas in this forum. Some are pretty innovative and I hope to try them next year! |
