Sabot or Rifled slugs?
Going on my first hog hunt this weekend. I have a couple of 12ga. shotguns. A Mossberg 500 and a Mossberg 935 semi-auto. Anyways, I went to Bass Pro to buy some slugs. The guy said that I needed sabot slugs since I don't have a rifled barrel. I took his word for it and bought the Sabot even though they were three times the cost of rifled slugs. Is this correct? I always thought that rifled slugs were for non-rifled barrels. Also, he said I could shoot the slugs through any choke as long as it isn't a full choke or tighter. Is this correct? For my Mossberg 500, I only have a steel choke for ducks. For my 935, I have several chokes. Which one should I use? Slugs won't hurt my semi-auto 935 will they? Thanks! Matt
