Default 8-19-06 Hog Hunt

Got caught on short notice for a nice little hunt. I was up for 45hours straight and drove 6hours one way. I went Bow/knife Only and got me a NICE 80lbr on the move at 30yards perfect placement. Then i got one that charged me 3 diff times with my knife to the heart. I have a video if i can get it uploaded but my friend cliff (the camera man) didnt do good on the follow up after the bow shot.

Alittle Background, the hunt was on 600acre ranch that had a 3strand bobwire fence on 3 sides and redtop fenceing on the home side and around the home to prevent the hogs from gettin to his wifes flowers and small garden. The hogs were runnin to these two watering holes (it was about 101degrees) that where about 40yards apart. We would post up at one then rotate to the other. They where a mix of domestic and Piney rooters. Some solid black other brown with black or white with black.

I would also like to give a HUGE shout out to MUZZY for making the finest broadhead i have ever used. We shot threw one hog and threw the one standing behind it. Sliceing bone like it wasnt there and leaving NICE spiral blade marks threw and threw. Cliff got the double kill as i was shooting at a solo playin in the mud. The broadheads lived up WAY beyond what i was expecting and would recommend them to anyone who ask. Even the rancher was impressed. We also have another hunt setup to the ranch 2 over from this one the guy is willing to pay use $200 a day to clean the hogs off...... GETTING PAID TO HUNT, AINT LIFE GRAND!! NEway pictures below

We hunted in mason texas. about 2 hours give or take from austin. There were lots of ppl there wanting us to come kill there hogs from there property but we had promised this guy and he was the first to invite. We will be goin back with rifles to thin them out on other propertys. And he was probly honestly about 80lbs. i should edit the orginal post. the one that charged was a bigger than him and would go 100.

Also yes we were disappointed as there were many 300ish lbrs on the land but the property owner wanted to charge to kill those. We are having the UFC PPV at my house this weekend and opt to kill pit size hogs for the roast. Also its my dads birth day tomorrow and we are going to cook some then as well. Had a blast tho. We got 7 hogs total in about 3 hours bows only (1knife) and it was VERY taxing. got tired of drawing back.

Have always heard great things about Mason and deer hunting. Got lots of pigs on/around our lease in Avinger, but rarely see them in daylight hrs. Pig cookout sounds good. Have fun.
