Yes, that is why I use a .450 Marlin. We hunt at night and don't have a lot of time to worry about head shots so we shoot them behind the shoulder and I want something that will put them down on the spot. It is no fun stalking a wounded boar at night. We did it too many times using a small rifle.

congrats my friend, I wish I can bag me a hog like that!!! I was suposed to g hunting this year with my grampa (he goes every year to Vermont) but, they can only have guys on there that are at least 16, insurance reasons. but my grampa said ofr my graduation pesent, he'll buy me a hog hunt :)

I saw a post or two regarding bow shots, but any suggestions on a bow shot from a treestand?

I am assuming quartering away and aiming for the lung on the opposite side?
