Default Hog Hunting/Trapping and deer hunting

Does anyone know where I can find any information/documentation on studies where they have studied the effects of hog hunting on deer hunting. The reason I am asking is my father in law and I have a hog trap set in a bottom that is checked every day or every other. The president said that he has been getting complaints that by us having the trap back there that it is scaring all of the deer away. I call BS on this and I would like to proove it to him. We have seen deer back there even big bucks, there are deer tracks all over the place. We have to go by 1 deer stand to get to it and they are complaining about the traffic. We are doing this in the off season and we stop Sept 1. All that I have ever read or seen indicated that the hogs will run the deer off, not the proccess of removing the hogs. Any help, links, email addresses to people that may be able to help would be appreciated.

don't really know of any sites that tell anything about it. all I can say is that I have several deer stands and hog traps in the same area, some as close as 20 yards apart. have takem many, many good bucks with the bow within 20 yards of the traps.we run our traps almost year round, on for a few mo's. and then stop for a few.

if the hogs move in heavy, the deer move out.the deer do not like the hogs around.thats why I run my traps all year. to try to keep the hogs thinned out.the way hogs breed, they will have two litters a year, and 6 to 10 per litter.if you have 4 or 5 good sows around, you can see how many you will have at the end of the year.

just the way I do it on my hunt property.

I know that the hogs will clean all the food and acorns in the area and don't leave much for the deer, unless you have a hanging feeder. Look at most of the Trail Cam pictures that are posted on the forum, you don't see Hogs and Deer feeding together.

We have traps set up near our deer blinds and never had a problem with running the der off. Our biggest problem is catching deer in the traps. It is fun trying to turn loose a deer when it is caught in a trap.

I have caught 5 different deer in my traps, the one's that don't jump out get really excited.you have to make sure you don't get in the door when you open it.may get ran over real quick.

Yes, ours are all closed in at the top. We have to climb on top of them to raise the door to stay out of the way. Though we caught a 6 point buck one time and he kept throwing his head up and the horns would come through the top of the trap. It was fun dodging the horns while trying to raise the door.

One thing we found is if you put diesel on the corn the deer and coons will leave it alone.

not commenting on the hogs and deer being together but if someone is saying the hog trap itself is scaring off deer....i'd call BS. deer get use to things in their area. they may be spooked the first couple of days but then curosity sets in and they'll walk up to it. i have put wooden ladder stands up and left them over the season and in one instance had a buck start rubbing his antlers on one of the 2x4 legs. the trap itself doesn't effect the deer. now the hogs might. i know hogs will chase off deer that come into the area while they are feeding.

i have a hog trap set up 15 yards away from my corn feeder and have caught deer and hogs in it so i know for a fact that the trap isnt scaring them off. like camocop said deer will get used to things after a while, my grandpa left his dozer at the edge of his food plot and the deer wouldnt even pay attention to it after about a week. the only thing that is keeping the deer run off is the hogs, and the hogs wont keep them ran off for good if you have corn out. so i call BS!
