For hogs or deer, a browning BLR in .358 Winchester.

For exotics or hogs i use an AR mostly. Shot placement is critical but I hunt them for meat and shoot them in the head. Trophy hunting I sue either my Steyr 25-06 or my Browning A-bolt in 300WSM.

I know the 223 seems small for hogs but if you put the bullet at eye level about 1 1/2"s back they usually only go about 12 - 24" straight down I have never had one run off but I DO NOT TAKE any shot that is less than perfect when using one of my ARs

I have no problem with my .243. I don't think i've shot a hog that hasn't dropped.

Hey partner, a .22mag in front, in or behind the ear, will drop a hog in it's tracks!

I have about one of everything it seems like. For hogs I like to use a winchester 94 30-30. The 30-30 is more of a brush caliper meaning a small twig off a tree or something won't really affect it. Not to mention after the first shot ya got six moreready to come behind it. Why shoot one when I can have them all. Hogs are pain in the butt around here to most farmers. There is no season and no limit. So go John Wayne and let the lead fly.

I'd really like someone to explain this, because I think it's BS. I find it next to impossible to believe that a .30-30 is a brush buster, but, the .300 Win. Mag., .30-06, or .308 are not. The .30-30 is considered abrush gun because it's light, small and easily maneuverable. Not because the bullets are unaffected by twigs.

How about 30-06? You can hunt anything in North America, you can find ammo in any mom an pop store, country hardeware, or sporting goods store in the country. And you can find many different loads to hunt anything from varmits to elk.
Ding ding ding, theres your answer.
