bow weight for hogs

What's the minimum recommended poundage to kill a hog with a bow?

50 Pound draw will kill just any North American game. The key is arrow placement.. Even with the most powerful bow on the market you have to be concerned with a good shot.A bad shot will result in being a vegetarian. :D:D:D

Rev. knows what he is talking about. I have alway said that the most important thing in killing any animal with a bow is shot placement and a sharp broadhead. Peaple put a lot of emphasis on speed, and there is nothing wrong with a fast bow but, judging distance and practice, practice, practice, will go a long ways to putting meat in the freezer.

Ditto, Rev. knows his stuff.
Ive shot them for years with everything from my compounds set at 70lbs, and 65lbs. I have also taken more than I can count with my trad gear. My favorite trad bow is my old herters recurvewhich is56lbs at 28". I have even taken them with my fishing bows which are recurves no heavier than 45lbs. Years ago I had a girl friend who took many hogs with her compound which was set at 45lbs. Its all in knowing your gear and its limitations. Most important thing is knowing the vitals of a hog and avoiding the shield.

Thanks. I shoot a old recurve marked 47# at 28". It shoots smooth, quiet and will put a carbon arrow clean thru a 12" foam target at 15 paces.

That ought to do the trick.. make sure to get a pic when you get one.. I couldn't find my camera last week until I had the hog in my cooler.:DI found it the next morning under some junk in the passengers seat of my pick up...
