Sometime back, I mentioned of the biggest hog I have killed. Well I have installed a new scanner and found the pictures.

Nice hog. Ive shot only one hog in my life over 400lbs, and it was a sow. Shot it with my 300wby about 6 years ago. I see loads of 200lbers, and get a couple each year, but its a rarity to see one exceeding 250lbs.

Burnie, we have many in the 300-350 class. From Eurasian to piny rooters.

one I took on the marsh of the gulf between Gulfhammock and Cedar Key.
don't really know how much he weighted.the scales at the station at rosewood bottomed out when they hung him up.they were 350 lb. scales.everyone said he went over 400lb, don't really know.

TC, that's a real nice one! I have taken some big ones in Gulfhammock, Cross City and Perry. Lake Wales also has some big ones.

reb and tc those are some nice hogs i killed one in ft mccoy in the 70's that was a little over 500lbs but the only picture of it was taken at a check station in fl mccoy and they put it on their wall [&o]so i dont have a picture of it today. as to the west coast i know there are some big ones in the area of dixie county and we have taken a lot of good ones over the years in that area. i heard that the state cross bread the piney rooters with something in the 60's or 70's in the ocala forest with some breed to give the rooter more weight have you heard about that

the people I wrestle hogs with cut their balls off and they say they grow 100 lbs in a year if you do that. and have a very good chance of getting to 400 before they die. they know this because they tagged a few they cought. I wont do it though, i always said if im cutting him im killing him. Id rather be kille dthan have no balls. but just thought id share that.

Are they any good to eat when they are that big or to tough???Never ate wild hog and curious whats the best size would be to harvest and eat??

no we eat the smaller ones. we release the big ones to catch again. i think its okay to eat anything under 150lbs
