7MM-08

I have never hunted hogs, but opportunities are looming. Has anyone used a 7mm-08, with factory loads on those guys? If so, what were the results and what ammunition did you use? I'm fishing around here trying to find if that caliber is adequate for porkers.

Here is one that fell in his tracks with a 7 mm - 08. That is one hot round!! One of my favorites. You shoot a hog 2 inches in front of the plate with a 7 - 08, he won't go very far!

I have used the 6.5mmSwede which has the same case and .5mm smaller. Sure the 7mm-08 will do the job!

7mm/08 is a close range 7 Mag any questions? I use winchester premium ammo 140 gr. When I gun hunt.
I shoot'em with a bow for more fun. Jim

7mm-08 great hog gun, shot placement should always be considered, behind the ear if possible

I killed quite a few with my 7-08 when I lived in South Carolina. I used both factory loaded Fed Premium Nosler 140gr ballistic tips as well as my own handloaded Barnes TSX 120gr and 140gr loads. Nothing but success to report.

Of course, it's important

to know how to shoot. Kidding!!!! A little.

I only hunt with my own handloads, and my 7-08 with 120 grain TSX kills them like lightning..

However my hunting buddy uses Plain Jane Remington Green 140 grain corelocts in his 7-08 and he kills 'em just as dead...

I killed a 275 lb boar with my M70 25-06 (117 gr. SST's)...shot him right in head. I've even killed a couple with a 223 WSSM (55 gr. BST). A 7mm-08 will work just fine with any quality bullet. Just like HogHunter said above, it's all about bullet placement.
