i need a quick repeating rifle in a larger calibre. i've got a mini 14 now, but it doesn't have enough take down. around 500 bucks is my budget. what kind of rifledo you guys think?

Try a H&R handirifle in 30/06 or H&R ultra slug hunter in 12 ga. You can purchase both for under $500.

Remington makes an automatic.It's a model 7400.You can get one in .308,or 30-06 w/ a wood stock at walmart for 499.And in .243,30-06,and .308w/ a synthetic stock for 417.Here's where I got that from.ANy of those would be big enough,but I would go with the .30-06,and a 150gr bullet.Hope I helped..

Zester, since you're asking in a Hog forum, I assume it's for hog hunting and this is what I would get for hogs if you're not going to use dogs! You would have to plug it to accept 5 rounds to hunt in FL... This one holds 9+1.

I use a Marlin .450 for hog hunting. It really puts them down out to 200 yards.

MOssberg ATR 100 30-06 for less than 260.00 There is an article in Rifle magazine this month. They rave about how nice this gun s for the price.

you can't go wrong with any large caliber...however a .30-30 is a nice choice for hogs. i use my wby .300 mag which tends to spin them like a top when their hit in the shoulder!
