Browning BLR .300WM
|
were they new factory ammo fired in it, or reloads?
|
New. Three different brands all do the same.
-Jake |
then yes i would send gun back, sounds like a chamber spec is off(that is if a new gun), if a used gun, it could be from wear/damages from previous owner
a GOOD gun smith can also check things out for you too, but if a new gun, it could void a warranty if someone else works on it, that isn't a certified Browning smith! |
That sounds like a really cool rifle and caliber. What kind of ballistics and groups are you getting?
|
Browning says to send it in. 4-6 week turnaround.... We'll see....
-Jake |
well that isn;t that long a wait with things being close to hunting season and well, the events going on today in the world as a whole!
sucks, but better to have it fixed right and be safe and all! |
I was expecting 4-6 MONTHS. weeks will make me happy.
-Jake |
Bout thirty minutes on the phone with browning (mostly on hold) and they emailed me a paid for shipping label. I did have to spend $10 to get a suitable box and packing material.
Dropped it off tonight. Hoping to have it back by Thanksgiving for PA hunting. Customer service was excellent so far. Hoping that can fix the issue. -Jake |
I hope you sent the fired brass with it??? I really don't like the scratches on them just above the belt. I really hope you get it back in time.
|
They did NOT want the fired brass sent I was very detailed in the letter that had me send about what it was doing, what ammo was used, etc. But they only wanted the rifle, nothing else sent.
-jake |
odds are they don't want the brass,a s they have no real way to tell if it was factory loaded or reloaded ammo
so, for them to rule things out there going to , both measure the chamber and shoot THERE OWN ammo out of it, as its the only way they can be sure its a real issue and not something caused by the ammo being used!! |
I'm fine with that. I hope they are thorough.
-Jake |
I bet you they put a new barrel on it. Looks like there was a machining issue when the chamber was cut.
|
Spoke with browning today. They said there was "blemishes" in the chamber and it has been polished and cleaned up. They shot three different brands of ammo through it (I don't know what brands) and it is "cycling as smooth as butter" now. Hopefully it's good when it gets back, and stays good. -Jake
|
Looking at the brass that is exactly the thought I had. Those scratches above the belt are not normal and would cause the 'stickiness' in extraction.I wouldn't think they polished enough to exceed SAAMI specs.
|
sounds great , hope you get it back and she shoots tiny little groups for you too, as well as ejecting cases as it should!
|
The browning issues continue.
It's shooting great. And now this... -Jake |
|
man that sucks, I hope browning corrects things for you doesn't try and blame you for it!
so best of luck contacting Browning again,! keep us posted! |
Wow that really does suck. I've never seen a Browning with so many problems. The only issue I ever had with mine was bedding but that was solved easily with some Devcon.
When did you get it back? Any way it was damaged when you got it or in transit? Not having it in my hand but it looks like the forearm didn't have enough relief from the barrel. Probably happened when you shot it off the bags and it came back down after the recoil. If there was sufficient clearance between the barrel and forearm it would not have happened. My thoughts anyway. Jake if Browning doesn't care of it let me know. I have a shop here that has tons of rifle parts and he may just have a BLR forearm. |
I didn't check the clearance prior to the crack.
It seems to have plenty of clearance though. -Jake |
