adjusting trigger on remington 700 rifle

sent two of my remington rifles back to Remington to have the triggers replaced. the triggers arent too bad but could be lightened up a little. question i have is, can the triggers be adjusted without removing the action from the stock? when i called Remington they said that the replacement triggers were adjustible.

I adjusted the triggers on all of my Rem 700 rifles. Yes, the action must be removed from the stock to access the trigger screws.

Yup - on the X Mark Remington triggers for the 700, the stock must be removed. Note the hex socket plug screw on the front face of the trigger assembly in the picture below. That’s the weight adjustment screw.

I think I should reply to this only to issue a warning to those not familiar with the 700 trigger assembly.
Please be extremely careful when adjusting the trigger screws. Improper adjustment can make the rifle dangerous. Over adjustment can cause the sear not to engage I sufficiently and the hammer to drop when the bolt is closed.
IMO it is best left to a gun smith to those not familiar with it to have them set it to the pull you want. Safety is priority one.
