Default stock refinish

I am refinishing the stock on a 1967 Glenfield model 30 stock. I cracked the forend and was wondering about using some epoxy on the inside of the forend. I have never done this and was wondering what kind of epoxy to use,or is the something else? Also I have seen some forend caps that had a sling swivel in them,(there is not much info on the mod.30 only the mod. 30a)and was wondering about buying one and just drilling and tap,if needed, my cap.
