Want a muzzlebreak

I shoot the Mossberg 30-.06 and want to get a muzzlebreak. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to NOT pay more than I did for the rifle.

Thanks!

Why do you want a muzzle brake on a 30-06? The recoil isn't that much and you aren't going to be doing rapid fire with a bolt action and you will make the gun louder. Do you want it because it looks cool or is there a need? If not you are wasting your money.

A good recoil pad is much less expensive with no downside.

I don't like the recoil (I'm not the world's biggest guy), and I had not heard about the noise.

Hmmmm......

There are other options other than a muzzle brake (not break). Recoil tubes that are installed inside the stock work, upgraded recoil pads, reduced recoil ammunition, and just plain old extra weight all work. You could always try some of these before making the jump to a brake.

Here is one of the recommendations that Big Uncle was talking about;

I have a mercury recoil reduce tube in a rem 760 30/06 it kicks like a 243. I bought the gun with it in it about six years ago so don't know where it was purchased at. But also have a rem 760 in 270 and ONE in 30/06 and the kick noticeably more. Those pachmayr pads also are nice have them on two 12ga. 3" and they work really nice. Also the limbsaver pads are nice.

The quietest brake is a Vais.
