problem with my 3336

i bought this gun several years ago. made in 62' with reloads this gun shoots under 3/4" this year while hunting i have found that the action when closed would " pop off " of the bottom and move out about 1/2" is this a common problem? i simply have to close the lever again. i am wondering if it could be the finger lever plunger or something more.

Not sure what you mean, but there is an additional safety where the lever meets the bottom of the reciever.

This must be engauged in order for the gun to fire.

correct. it is very touchy and the lever will come off the stock if touched . is there a way to fix this or what needs to be done?

It works like that so you have to squeeze the lever in order to fire it.

It's an additional safety mechanicism.

I have an 1895, and it is similar to your 336. I don't believe it does what you describe, or, at least not to the degree you describe.

I would take the gun apart. This is really pretty simple, just pay attention to the orientation of the parts. The owner's manual tells how to do it. Inspect all parts carefully, clean, and reassemble.
