Bolt on flash suppressor?
 

I have my new savage 270 and i was wondering if they make a flash suppressor that bolts on with a set screw or something non permanent like that. I dont want to go the whole 9 yards and have my barrell threaded. Although it does have considerable muzzle flash, the main reason I want the flash suppressor is to protect my muzzle crown and i kind of like the look of them. So can someone refer me to a product like what i have described and where to buy one?

I don't know of any that are designed to be installed on a tapered sporter weight hunting barrel. It would really physically impossible to keep it on the barrel as the gasses exiting the barrel would rip it right off of the taper unless you turned down about an inch of the barrel straight and pinned one in place.

I really don't see the point of installing a flash suppressor on a deer hunting rifle anyway. The crown itself is what protects the muzzle of the barrel.

It would be dangerous because you couldn't keep it centered with the bore.
And the bullet might hit it and Whamo blown up gun.

im agreeing with the two previous posts, doesnt work to well. i made about 3 dozen collet style muzzlebrakes and they are all pretty well in the garbage. actually they worked REALLY good for about 20 but i kept getting the same problem, id shoot and the brake would slowly inch its way forward. ive never had a bullet strike a brake yet but i can see it happeneing if the brake walks to far forward. ive also played around with using taper fit brakes. the theory to taper fit is good, just take a look at most drill chucks and you will find a morse sticky taper holding the chuck in. but to break a morse sticky taper, or any sticky taper for that matter, you just give it a sharp blow (like from a muzzleblast) and the part is free. i have no doubt a that if you use a taper fit you will have a muzzebrake somewhere down range. but on the other hand i was sent a pm from okie2 stating he made a aluminium muzzlebrake held in with a cross pin and a dowel pin. he said it worked so maybe you should be talking to him.
