77/22 sear & sear spring
 

The choices are Volquartsen or Timney. Surprise, the Timney stuff is a couple dollars more than Volquartsen. Both will take some fitting. Anyone have any opinion based upon experience that they would like to share about which is better?

Go with the Volquartson or a Wolff spring kit. I haven't had much experience with the Timney kit for 77/22 but do know for sure the Volquartson works. I usually modify the factory parts myself however.

The trigger broke at six pounds before, and 3 pounds after the new sear/spring. There is noticable creep but it is not too bad. A worthwhile 10 minute project with a cost of about $35.

A LIGHT stoning would get rid of the creep. I'm glad it worked out for you.

I did the same as stalkingbear, as I stoned the factory sear and used Wolff springs. Didn't take much time, and came out very nice.

A very light stoning helped. It removed the gritty feel, but it still has some creep. I can live with this creep for now but someday I will pull it apart and give it another light touch with the stone.

Had another pass at it this afternoon. It turned into a nice trigger, and I am a happy guy.

I knew you could do it! Now, have you thumped the butt on the carpet, smacked the side of the rifle with your palm, and slammed the bolt closed to ensure it's safe?

Absolutely! I tried all manner of thumps and bumps with the safety on and off to make sure that it did not go "click" at the wrong time.
