I put a new fireing pin spring in my fathers rifle and now we can not put the safety on.The grooves do not line up.It's hard to see how to screw up something this simple.But there it is.Any answers. thanks

What rifle is it?
Winchester, Browning, etc, what model?
It sounds like, it's the wrong fireing pin spring , or you put it in backwards.
Take the fireing pin spring out, and compare it with the old one, if you still have it.

I believe he said he installed the spring not the firing pin...if I read the post correctly.
