Default Has Remington ever made 7600 .270 Carbine?

A co-worker of mine just recently picked up a used in mint condition 7600 chambered in .270. The gun was in an original box and it is labeled as a 7600 Carbine. I know that Remington as of now does not make the 7600 in a carbine for the .270. My question is, has Remington ever made the 7600 .270 in a carbine? I have not seen the gun, but I theorized to my co-worker that the gun in question was most likely mistakenly placed in a Remington box that originally belonged to a .30-06. Am I wrong? Thanks for the help.

I had a 7600 270 win. Not a carbine, but a 7600.

Mr 45-70,
They did make a 270 and a 3006 carbine up until 2002 in the 7400. I have a NIB 7400 carbine in 280. It was a special run in 2003 of 255. I've been considering selling it. the 7600 carbine have been made in quite a few calibers, mostly special runs. I'm sure there is a 27o carbine out there somewhere. If you want, I can give you the name of a "rare Remington" dealer in Pa. who has one or two of everything. If he has one, his prices are really reasonable.

Also most barrels that are short are called carbines, and it has been proven for many year that the 270 shoot more accurate with a 22" barrel so there you go. vangunsmith

What is the thinking behind the thearory that a 270 shoots best with a 22 inch barrel? I just wondered because you seldom see a 270 with a barrel longer than 22 inches.

I'd get ahold of Remington - they've been helpful to me with questions.
