rifle weight and the sako
Looking at a sako hunter 75 in wood,.270. Already have a tikka t-3 hunter and a t3 ss/syn. Would love to get the sako but at almost 8 lbs w/o scope and shells seems kinda heavy, a pound + more than my tikkas. Any sako owners out there? is the extra weight/ cost worth it?

RE: rifle weight and the sako
I would have to say yes but if you would go with the Synthetic Stainless you could knock off nearly 3/4 lb. Maybe more to your liking and that synthetic sure is nice.;)

Yes it is. And this way you have a real Sako and not a poser.:D

RE: rifle weight and the sako
I hunt with Sako rifles (older ones) and the weight is annoying. A couple of years ago I stopped carrying the '06 and switched to the .243 - I just got tired of lugging that long action around. I have friends who shoot Tikka's and when we're at the range they shoot about the same as my Sako's.

RE: rifle weight and the sako
I've got two wood stocked 75's and I can honestly say the weight has never been an issue for me at all. In fact, with the .300 Wby 75, I'm particularly glad it's not a lightweight.

RE: rifle weight and the sako
I agree with you Solitary Man. Mine is a 300 WBY, one of the older L691 Sakos and I wouldn't want it any lighter. I'm fairly large so I don't think the weight affects me as much. Anyway, I like the feel of a solid rifle and not a plastic one when I'm shooting a stout cartridge. :D

My solution to that dilamma was to buy the Finnlite.
