Which rings? Savage 12BVSS w/ Simmons Aetec 3.8-12X44
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a set of rings for a Savage 12BVSS .223 with a Simmons Aetec 3.8-12X44. I have this scope on my 111F .270 right now and it just barely clears the barrel with 1" high rings (approximately .010" clearance). I think the only reason it fits is because of the taper in the barrel. I don't have the 12BVSS yet so I can't try mounting it, but I'm thinking that with the heavy barrel it won't clear. So I need to know how high the rings have to be and if anyone can recommend a good brand. I have the Weaver brand rings on my .270 and they seem kind of cheesy with the sheet metal clamp on top.

I couldn’t find any base and rings from Leupold but if go to there web site and inquire with them, I’m sure they can help you out. Leupold make excellent bases and rings...Good Luck.
