Not to be obnoxious, but I'm not sure I want to hunt with a "sniper" looking for an opportunity to show off. Hunting with a rifle capable of a long range shot is a good idea, seeking a long range shot is reckless hunting. Hunt within your capabilities and always respect the animal you're hunting.

World I 1903Springfield A4
World War II M1D Garand Sniper
Korea Mod 70Win
Viet Nam Mod 700Rem
They had 8 weeks at rifle range and 8 weeks of survival training
in the jungles of Panama.
They had to be Sharp Shooters at 1000yds to graduate
and graduate from Survival Training.
The best Sniper the US Army had was Sgt. Gillie
whats that you say?

03A4 sniper was based on the 03A3 model these weren't produced until 1943, The Marine Corps used 1903A1 sniper rifles through the Vietnam war.
M1Ds were produced after WWII
1903 springfields were still used in Vietnam, along with M21s and M40s (your remington rifle)
Ghillie is the name of the camoflage used by Scottish game wardens, not a US sniper.

Just clearing up some of the misinformation or what I like to call 'BS'

And the most "prolific U.S. sniper was Carlos Hathcock. A Marine, I believe.

Rebel Hog, Too bad. I thought you had them. I have tried to find an M1D like you pictured for years. I've had no luck, they all have shot out barrels or are standard Garands that have been "converted". Hard to locate an authentic M1D.

That's exactly what I've been running into. Either they're shot out or they're not really M1D's, just a regular Garand with a 3rd world M1D barrel. If you ever see one, please email me.
