How Many Guns?
If money was no object how many guns would you own. I am only dreaming, but if I had endless money to spend on guns I would own at leat one custom, and at least one maybe more of factory (stock) models of almost every caliber starting at the .17's going all the way up to a very expensive 600 or 700 double nitro express by H&H. I would do the same with shotguns and pistols. If that dream was reality my personal gun collection would number in the 100's. Am I weird or does anyone else ever think along the same lines as me?

RE: How Many Guns?
BBJ, ya that would be nice, I admit that I like reloading and find it rewarding and love to shoot guns a lot, but when it comes to the hunting part I still perfer my bow. Not saying that I wouldn't add in a few rifle hunts during the year if money was not a problem.

RE: How Many Guns?
i would build my own buy taking a a gunsmithing course (which i plan on doing once i get out of school and get some money) i already have 7 guns i think i would like somthing like a 338lapua mag and possiably a 50 BMG just so i can say i have one. i would also like a a nice over and under such as a borwning Cynergy and a HK SL8-1 so my total would be 12 guns. a good even number. i would also like to get into reloading.

RE: How Many Guns?
I would Have an Add on built to my house so I could keep all my guns. I would Also Like a rifle In every caliber Up to a 375 H&H posible a few Nitro's If I had a replacement shoulder lined Up.

RE: How Many Guns?
More than I could ever shoot regularly. I'd probably buy guns and never shoot them at all, just because I could. Of course, if I were rich enough to buy all the guns I could ever want, I'd be rich enough to own a guns store to buy and sell them. I believe inventory is tax deductable! ;)

I have been lucky enough to have owned NOT ALL but a big majority of the guns I wanted. I was a gun dealer for 15 years are so. I did have to trade a lot to try other that I wanted to try. I would no a lot of hunting with the money more than buying guns but I for sure would pick up a few more. Nothing to big as I woul;d then have to hire someone to shoot them as well.:D

I don't have as many guns as i use to and that's fine with me, but the ones i have now, are a heck of a lot better quality that those i sold and traded off!! I'd much rather have 5 high quality guns than 30 average ones!!! (or more) Drilling Man |

Dm, with being a gun shop owner did you ever get screwed and come up on the loosing end or a gun deal or sale? The reason why I ask is because I have talked to several gun shop owners hear in Idaho. Some have claimed to get screwed time to time just keep competitive prices with the bigger stores like Sportsmans Warehouse?

RE: How Many Guns?
It was very hard to compete with the "big boys" so i tried to NOT to have to!!! The big boys can and do buy the same guns cheaper than the little guys can!! (common guns)
Best way i found to beat the big boys was to know more than any of them!!! I kept up on the latest of everything!! People will drive a long way out of there way for your knowledge! I handled brands (Valmet, Krieghoff, Zeiss, ect..) that they wouldn't, and i was willing to teach customers how to "reload" if they bought the equipment from me. I also reloaded ammo for sale. I would order things for customers no matter if there was profit in it or not, just to keep them comeing back!! Things like bench rest equipment, and bullet swage tools. I sold high grade gun stock blanks, and found a good place to send them for a complete finished stock. I also did stock work in my shop. I designed a few cartridges, and had bbls. chambered for them. Then i loaded ammo for them and had it forsale too! I swaged "bonded core" bullets when none of the big guys were doing it, and sold them through shot gun news, along with selling them at gun shows ect... I did many things like this, and ALSO i NEVER lied to a customer, my customers knew that, and came to me instead of going to a shop where they would be told what ever they thought the customer wanted to hear. It was a lot of work and took a lot of time, but it allowed me to do the things i wanted to, like spend weeks at a time in the bush... Oooh yeaaaa, did i loose money at times??? YES, but not on purpose!!! :>))) Drilling Man |
