Gun Auction Prices
 

Hi All,

I am shoping the gun auction sites for a Marlin 1895gs in 45-70 and a lot of them want more than you can get them new for in the store. Am I missing something here?

I would still have to pay for an FFL to recieve the rifle. Does this make any sense to anyone else?

I hate those auctions....I like Guns America and have never had a problem...they list the price....you can make an offer....simple. The Auction prices are usually a high reserve price and there is usually no auction at all! GA is also good for sellers...I have sold 3 rifles on GA with zero problems. Yep its more like another gun shop..theres a few deals on there..but not many.

GunBroker, etc. can be useful for finding discontinued models. As for the rest - caveat emptor! ;)

Most of the guns I see on the Internet auctions , I can beat the prices buying locally . I have bought a few guns at open auctions with verbal bidding and got some great buys .

This is what I do, When looking for a gun, Ok What do i want, Look threw Budsgunshop.com / Walmart / Gunbroker.com, Get prices Know your history on the gun you want to buy, As for me Iam looking at a Remington 700 SS 300 SAUM right now, Walmarts to 150 Higher than Gunbroker.com $449.00 is......Then I come In this forum & ask erperiance shooters, About the gun & make my dission to buy or not to buy......Even if Remington May stop making this Caiber, I'll just Buy 200 rounds of Brass & shoot them until they where out Or just get it recailbered to a WSM .....All this info On this gun, I got from experianced Shooters on this website, Which i thank very much, We learn from Experiance & mistakes But Learn more from Experiance shooters.....

I use Gunbroker - if you're patient you can often find an exceptional bargin there.

I started buying and selling guns on auction sites back when ebay was still in the game. I have used gunbroker, auction arms, and gunsamerica and have had success on all sites. The key to buying and selling guns online is to do YOUR homework. There used to be some real "deals" on the auction sites, but since the gun shops and pawn shops started listing their inventory, the deals are few and far between. There are some deals still to be found, but as I said before do your homework. I am on my way out today to look locally for a S&W 686 or 629. I have spent 2 evenings on the auction sites to have an idea what is a "good" price on a used gun in either of these models. This is my standard mode of operation, and if nothing can be found locally, then I would consider buying one online.

The gun shops around here are fairly competitive, or at least in line with MSRP, but I've consistently found better deals for new guns online. Auctionarms.com is a great site--easy to use, plenty of auctions, and some really good sellers. I've saved $50-100 per firearm buying from people there as opposed to my local dealer.

Don't forget auction arms, once in a while you find a bargain there too.
