jcchartboy, The gun comes with a 21'' fully rifled barrel and catilever scope mount. It also has a monte carlo stock to accomadate the scope set up. I like having the scope mounted to the barrel, it allows me change the barel, to say a turkey hunting or waterfowl set up and go right back to deer hunting. The 11-87 is a solid gun, nothing real fancy, just reliable, shoots well and gets the job done. Go to the Remington web sight, they have a good picture of the gun and all the details.

Eider you bring up a great point. Many shooters who own rifled slug guns overlook the importance of the stock. Just like a rifle, achieving a good cheek weld on the stock is always important to shooting consistently. However many shooters try putting a scope on their old shotguns and never making any compensation for the change in the line of site. This results in the shooter lifting there head off the stock when aiming, causing flyers.
One of the first accessories I bought for my gun was the Bear creek comb raising kit. This is basically a conversion kit to create the benefit of the Monte Carlo stock. It is easily adjustable for shooter/scope height.

BTW...The 11-87 looks awfully good too...

jcchartboy, where did you get the Bear Creek add on for you stock. I would like to get one for an 870 I want to set up for turkey hunting with a red dot scope. I think I am going to put a saddle mount on the gun for the scope, can't justify the cost of a new cantalever barrel right now and this seems like a good alternatve but I will have to change the sight line. The Bear Creek looks like the perfect way to do this. I tried looking on line under Bear Creek but didn't come up with anything. If you can point me to a source I would appreciate it. Thanks

To everyone who replied that they own an A-bolt, I wanted to let you know that I have been following the market for them for quite some time.
My original A-bolt, purchased in 98, was stolen a few years ago. Since that time I have been watching the pricing of these guns looking for a replacement. Although I was fortunate enough to find a replacement at what I felt was a reasonable cost, I still watch the mkt for them very closely.

I thought you guys might like to know that one sold last week at a large auction. The gun had approximately 250$ in accesories.......and it sold for 2300$. That valued the gun alone above 2000$. That is the highest price I have seen to date, and begins to value the guns near the cost of a Tar Hunt for the first time...
